Sharing Guide
Use this guide to learn how to share Assets in Hunni.
You can share assets from the Assets Dashboard or the Security Dashboard.
The quickest way to share an Asset, is to select it from the Assets Dashboard, then click the Share button at the top right of the explorer window. Note, the share button will only be active if you are an Owner of the Asset.

This will take you to right to Step 2 (Select Recipients) of the Hunni Sharing Workflow (Step 1 is selecting assets, which you've already done). You can also start at Step 1, through the Security Dashboard, and select multiple Assets to share at once.
You can share assets from the Security Dashboard by clicking the Security Icon in the Left Sidebar, then Share Assets on the horizonal Security Dashboard menu at the top of the page.

Start by selecting the assets you wish to share. You can select multiple assets from different folders by clicking the checkbox next to the asset name, then clicking the Add Assets to Selection button. You are only be able to share assets that you have Owner access to.
Add Assets from Existing Users: Use this dropdown to select assets based on another user. After selecting the user, press the plus (+) button to add all assets that user has access to, where you are an owner. This can be useful for mirroring another users access across assets.
Proceed to Step 2: Select Recipients once you've selected all the assets you wish to share by clicking the button or tab at the top.
Next, you'll select the recipients for your share. The top table allows you to select from a list of existing connections. See Connections for more information on Inbound vs Outbound connections.

If you want to share to someone you haven't connected with yet, you can add a new connections by clicking the Add New Connection button.
If you shared with a new connection and the request is pending, you won't be able to share more assets to them until they've accepted your request to connect.
Next, you'll select the access levels for each user you selected in Step 2 across all assets you selected in Step 1.

- Clone Access from Another User: Using this dropdown, you can prefill the access levels table based on another user's access. This can be useful for applying access to multiple users quickly (assign access to 1 user, then clone that access to several users at once).
- This will only apply to assets the selected in Step 1 (if the selected user has access to additional assets you own, those will not be added to the selection)
- Table Legend:
- Missing Selections: Required values that were missing when attempting to preview or save changes.
- Current Access: The access level a user currently has to an asset prior to making any changes.
- Source Table: If you selected a View, source tables are the underlying tables that view is built on. You must verify access levels to that data at the source, as well as the view.
- Access Selection Table: Select Access Levels, Direct/Indirect Access, Add Column Filters, and preview a user's access based on your selection.
- Owner: Owners have complete control over an asset.
- Owners can modify the structure and details of the asset
- Owners can view/add/edit/delete data associated with an asset
- Owners can share the asset
- Owners can modify access for all users
- External users cannot be Owners
- To be assigned an owner of a View, you must have owner access on all the View's source Tables
- Write: The user can view/add/edit/delete the data within and asset. Views cannot have write access.
- Read: The user can view an asset and it's data.
- None: The user cannot see an asset or any of an asset's data.
When sharing a View, you must assign access levels to the Tables that View is built on. You can give users access to those Tables directly, or give them Indirect access to the data shared with them through a View.
Direct Access: The user can access the Table directly. They will see this Table in their Assets Dashboard.
Indirect Access: The user can only access the Table through the Views that contain that Table. The user will not be able to see the table in their Assets Dashboard.

Using column filters, you can restrict a users access to specific rows. Click "Add" in the Column Filters column to create a column filter for specific users.

- Chooses Column
- Choose Filter Value
- Text column filters can be selected from a list of unique values that exist in the column. All other data types must be entered in the input box.
- Click Close
In Hunni, when you provide access to a table, that security is inherited down to the row-level in any views that use that table. This can be a powerful tool for efficient sharing.
For example, you can have a "clients" table that defines what users should have access to specific clients through column filters. Then if you want to share an "accounts" table with your clients, you can create a View that joins onto the clients table, and all users will only see accounts based on the corresponding "clients" table, without having to set any additional filtering on the accounts table.
When you share in Hunni, the recipient will immidietly be notified via email, unless they have sharing notifications turned off. You can adjust sharing notifications in Account Settings.
New Users will be alerted of your share and invited to join Hunni. They will have access to the assets you've shared with them after they've registered.
Active Users that are new connections will be alerted of your share and invited to connect. Once they've accepted your connection, they will have access to the assets. Note, if your organization has connection approvals turned on, the notification will not be sent until after an approver approves the connection. Learn more about Connections.
Active Users that are already connections will be alerted of your share and will immidietly have access to the assets.
